With the burgeoning interest in psychedelic assisted therapies (PAT), there has also been an increased interest in understanding the elements that enhance PAT.

Natural aromas, the volatile molecules created by plants for across-species communication, in the form of essential oils, have powerful effects on the human psyche and are uniquely suited to enhance PAT, including KAP (ketamine assisted psychotherapies). Using essential oils in psychedelic-assisted therapy has been previously described (Birkmayer F, 2021) and offers a uniquely powerful way for enhancing its benefits.

We will discuss the common frustrations and limitations that can occur in PAT and KAP and how through the sense of scent, these can be addressed. We will review the multiple dimensions of synergy between psychedelic and aromatic molecules. We will explore how to practically incorporate essential oils into PAT and KAP.

Erika Gagnon is a Canadian ceremonial leader and healer who has dedicated her life to learning from Indigenous elders across North and South America. Carrying their blessings to continue traditions of healing, ceremony, medicinal plant knowledge, sacred tobacco and water blessing. Erika brings a rare depth and authenticity to her work — and a refreshing honesty about what healing truly means.

In this candid, wide-ranging conversation, Erika will share her wisdom on eldership, ceremony, and Indigenous honoring, and explore the difference between group ceremony and personal healing. She also challenges us to reconsider what we think we know about healers and healing — because in her experience, a true healer doesn't heal others, but helps others remember how to heal themselves.

What Is The Medicine?  

Through the lens of the Indigenous Medicine Wheel, Duncan and Jen will invite you to consider that medicine may not only be what's in the cup—but  also what already lives within you.  

As our teachings often remind us, “When we do ceremony with the sacred  plants, the plants point us in the direction to go in and down. The  “medicine” is there, waiting for you. Follow it. Go down and in to your lodge,  and see for yourself what you find.”

Sadly, in our belief and practice of  “separation”, we “think” that what we seek is “out and up”, meaning “out  there and/or up there.”

Through cultural teachings, followed by a brief  practice, we will ask you to consider an alternative possibility

Sexual boundary violations by psychedelic practitioners are a recurring and serious problem. The aim of this psychodynamic study is to identify how erotic transference and countertransference (ETCT) can emerge in psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) and how to reduce risk of harms. To this end guest speaker, Pat Song, has interviewed, thus far, 17 PAT practitioners and participants about their experiences of ETCT.

The case studies richly demonstrate how psychedelics can evoke erotic feelings, material, relational experiences, therapeutic challenges, and transference and countertransference. Several examples will be presented. For the participant, these medicines can evoke powerful experiences of erotic energy while also decreasing inhibition. If there are unaddressed problems in their intimate primary relationship, the participant can be vulnerable to developing an erotic transference to another in the psychedelic space.

For the practitioner, therapeutic challenges can arise in the form of ETCT driven by developmental or intrapsychic material, powerful relational experiences, and boundary challenges and confusion. In addition the practitioner’s life stressors can lead to increased risk of boundary violations. Psychedelics can create difficulties for the practitioner providing therapeutic touch, especially if they received inadequate training on how to set boundaries and offer alternatives to touch. Almost all interviewed practitioners felt their training on touch had been insufficient.

The case studies point to urgently needed evolution in practice and training. For example, preparation should include an assessment of the participant’s primary relationship and discussion of possibilities with erotic energy, material, and transference. Training should provide thorough grounding in transference and countertransference, relevant psychodynamic therapy concepts, and management of boundaries and therapeutic touch. A psychodynamic framework for working with ETCT will be reviewed.

A growing body of evidence supports psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy for conditions like PTSD, treatment-resistant depression, and end-of-life distress — yet current regulatory guidelines in Canada may be doing more harm than good. Join us for a webinar examining the BCCSW's recent guidance, the open letter challenging it, and what evidence-informed, harm-reduction-centred regulation should look like.

In this webinar, Brad Necyk of the Psychedelic Puppet Show will explore the power of storytelling to demystify and destigmatize psychedelics. Framing narrative as a tool for education, healing, and cultural change, he will invite creators, clinicians, and curious minds to consider how playful, imaginative storytelling can make psychedelic awareness accessible and engaging. If we win, the Canadian federal government will be forced to legalize psilocybin for healthy adults, subject to reasonable limits, as a protected “freedom of thought” tool—much like a passport is protected as a mobility tool and information‑gathering is protected as a press tool. This case argues that psilocybin is to thought what the printing press was to expression: it doesn’t dictate what you think, it lets you think more deeply, creatively, and freely.

We already built a powerful evidentiary record showing psilocybin reliably supports cognitive flexibility, spirituality, life meaning, connection to self, others, and nature—evidence backed by leading researchers like David Nutt and many peer‑reviewed studies. Even the government’s own expert acknowledged that psilocybin can produce mystical and spiritual experiences, creativity, and profound shifts in perspective. Yet the trial judge created a brand‑new, unworkable test, insisting that a freedom‑of‑thought tool must produce a predictable, specific thought—something no genuine thought tool (not a philosophy book, not psychotherapy, not psilocybin) could ever guarantee. He then brushed aside hundreds of pages of testimony and exhibits and called psilocybin’s relationship to thought “remote,” despite finding that it increases neuroplasticity and enables new thought patterns with therapeutic support.

There is very good news buried in that bad decision: the judge found psilocybin can be used safely from a licensed source in a supervised setting, and that there is no practical exemption pathway for people seeking access for thought-related purposes. In constitutional terms, that means if we establish that psilocybin is a freedom-of-thought tool, the government will struggle to justify its prohibition—and we win. The client who started this case is now out of the country and out of money; without your support, the appeal dies and this mountain of carefully gathered evidence is wasted. With your help, we can carry this Freedom-of-Thought Challenge to the top court in Ontario and set a precedent that could ripple across other psychedelics and even other countries where freedom of thought is constitutionally protected. Concussion and TBI are a silent epidemic in pro sports. Athletes suffer in silence for years during and after their pro careers end, often misdiagnosed or left with treatments that manage symptoms but fail to heal the root injury. Now, emerging research and real-world outcomes suggest that ibogaine may offer a breakthrough path to recovery, restoring function, reducing brain age, and giving athletes their lives back.

Hosted by Ambio Life Sciences Co-Founder Trevor Millar, with special guest Ales Hemsky – former NHL star and ibogaine patient – this panel explores the science of ibogaine for TBI, lived experience, and emerging promise of ibogaine therapy for athletes facing the long-term impacts of repetitive head injury, mental health issues, and the downstream effects of untreated conditions.

Curt Petrovich spent nearly four decades as a journalist for the National public broadcaster, telling stories from Canada’s Arctic to Asia. Much of his work has one common theme: holding the powerful to account. Whether it was uncovering a plot to steal an election that was hatched inside the office of the Premier of Manitoba, compelling the RCMP to document its own dysfunction, or telling the stories of people who’d otherwise be voiceless and forgotten, Curt never wavered.

There would be a toll, however. A lot of Curt’s assignments placed him in the middle of some global human and natural disasters. Following a particularly difficult assignment covering a devastating typhoon in the Philippines, Curt was diagnosed with severe PTSD, seen at the time as a career-ending illness. But Curt volunteered for the phase II MAPS study into the use of MDMA to treat PTSD. When the study ended and legal access to MDMA was again prohibited, he would go on to receive further private treatment using ketamine. His experience was the subject of a documentary that aired on CBC in 2017.

Since then Curt’s journalism has touched on the issues around the efficacy of psychedelic treatment and the bureaucratic and legislative opposition to its use. Despite publicly acknowledging Curt’s commitment to his work and what it cost him personally, the CBC privately worked to remove him as a senior journalist, because he could no longer cover the disasters and death that tend to dominate the news cycle. Curt’s depth of experience and knowledge of how the “News” is reported, along with his own personal journey using psychedelic psychotherapy to mitigate the symptoms of PTSD, makes him an authority on some of the issues that should matter to anyone disenchanted with or disbelieving what they see and hear in what passes for “news” today.

In relaying some of his first hand experiences, Curt’s observations and opinions may align with your own, or they may seem merely unsurprising. But in an era ruled by what a handful of sociopathic billionaires decide is “news”, re-establishing belief in facts, transparency and accountability has never been more important. You can expect Curt to touch on the state of journalism today, how topics like psychedelic science are regarded, how to speak to journalists - at least the responsible ones, and why principles, and not “holding your nose”, is critical to being believed.

Ecological medicine and psychedelic medicine converge in their recognition that healing extends beyond the individual to include the broader ecosystems in which we live. Ecological medicine views human health as deeply interconnected with the health of the planet, emphasizing sustainable practices that protect natural systems while promoting human well-being.

Similarly, psychedelic medicine often facilitates experiences of profound interconnectedness, dissolving the boundaries between self and environment and inspiring a renewed sense of responsibility for the Earth. By integrating these approaches, practitioners can address not only the psychological and physiological aspects of illness but also the environmental and societal factors that contribute to collective well-being. Joe McKay was an FDNY firefighter who worked at the World Trade Center on 9/11 in the aftermath of the towers' collapse. In the weeks that followed, he divided his time between working at Ground Zero and attending funerals for 26 fellow firefighters—all personal friends—who lost their lives that tragic day. Months later, Joe began experiencing excruciating pain in his head. He was diagnosed with cluster headache, considered one of the most painful conditions in medicine. This led to a devastating journey through desperation, opioid addiction, suicidal thoughts, and ultimately, forced medical retirement.

Eventually Joe discovered the nonprofit organization Clusterbusters online. Through their education and support, he learned that psychedelics provided the most effective treatment for his condition. Psilocybin prevents his cluster headache cycles, MDMA helps him process his PTSD, and DMT helps abort individual attacks.

The remarkable story of Clusterbusters' discovery of psychedelics and their 20-year struggle to make this treatment legally available is chronicled in Psychedelic Outlaws: The Movement Revolutionizing Modern Medicine.

Today, Joe is a leading advocate for expanding legal access to psychedelics at both federal and state levels.

In these times of incredible change and rebirth on the planet, a time that the Hopi call the "age of purification," we are on the precipice of massive ecological, social and spiritual evolution and ascension. In this webinar we will discuss the cycles and potential timelines of the next five years from the lens of astrology, spirituality and plant medicine.

The Mazatec tradition and historical use of plant & fungal medicines is integral to the international renaissance of interest in psychedelic medicines. The knowledge of Mazatec wisdom keepers and healers along with cultural aspects of life in the Oaxacan region are being preserved for future generations by dedicated volunteers in the Historias Mazatecas Archive.

To prevent this archive from being lost to weathering and age, Vuelta Sur and Fungi Foundation are collaborating on fundraising efforts to secure the funds to construct a museum to safely house these cultural artifacts, and rich heritage of the Mazatec people.

Ninety percent of our communication is non-verbal, communicated through the eyes, voice, facial and bodily gestures. From the moment we are born we are communicating our internal cues to our caregivers and we need them to attune to those cues to ensure that we not only survive, but flourish. As developing humans, when we are not consistently cared for or appropriately responded to, when misattuned to or neglected, we can suffer relational and development trauma. These developmental gaps and severed neural connections can lead to living in pain, disconnection and chaos.

To flourish as humans we need others to co-regulate, co-reflect and to grow brains with –we need this on an ongoing basis for life. It is the same in the psychedelic space - we need others to get our cues and to come into relationship with us when we have dropped into developmental gaps, dissociation, terror and places of thwarted growth. How do we as practitioners intervene wisely during a medicine session? This is a relational art form.

Psychedelic-assisted therapy (PaT) regulations are imminent in Canada and the United States (US). The essential infrastructure needed to support the standardized delivery of PaT for the industry requires significant development.

PaT will require a significant number of practitioners from many different disciplines as well as clinic infrastructure to support accessibility. Most practitioners and clinics with interest to participate lack the time, resources, and regulatory knowledge to implement emerging regulatory, accreditation and treatment standards into their current practice. This support is crucial for regulated practitioners to feel confident in delivering safe, effective, and regulatory compliant PaT across Canada.

This webinar will help assist practitioners wishing to provide PaT above ground but don’t know where to start, as well clinics who wish to adopt PaT as an adjunct to their practice under regulatory licensing and accreditation standards but need guidance.

We will take a look at the diagnostic criteria of eating disorders, as well as the neurobiological elements—what leads to the development of these conditions and how the brain is affected.

We'll review what traditional eating disorder treatment looks like, including medication, psychotherapy, dietary interventions, and other treatment techniques, across different levels of care.

Additionally, we will discuss the medical interventions to keep in mind when considering psychedelic treatment and some of the latest research, including data from studies using psilocybin, MDMA, and ketamine/esketamine for eating disorders.

We'll discuss how the therapeutic modality "Internal Family Systems" (IFS) paired with psychedelic treatment is well suited for this patient population. To close, practical considerations for integrating psychedelics with traditional interventions will be reviewed.

Surgery and Ceremony are inherently similar processes. The ritualistic nature of surgery dates back to to ancient times, but over the years with the industrialization of medicine the awareness of the ritual has faded. This webinar will focus on Surgery as Ceremony ™: A methodology focused on guiding patients through a conscious experience during surgery to create powerful shifts in mindset and body.

When the process of surgery is treated as a ceremony, patients are given the opportunity to treat this rare experience with reverence and witness the harmonious interplay between the physical and soul bodies. Surgery as Ceremony involves a multidisciplinary team of experts  to support the patient. It includes the surgeon, a lymphatic massage practitioner, and psychotherapist to provide comprehensive treatment of the mind, body and soul. Together they collaborate on a plan outlining the arc of the transformational journey staring with preparation, the procedure, and extending into aftercare for an optimal healing experience.

When performed with an intention of support and transformation, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery becomes an opportunity to enhance a person’s physical body so that they may more confidently express the highest version of their soul body. Like ceremony, surgery becomes a ritual of transformation through which an individual meets a new version of self.

What Can We Learn from American Successes?

Canada has been leading the world in terms of governmental acknowledgement of psychedelics, though Australia and US jurisdictions are quickly making progress. Join the PAC to hear from US advocates for psychedelic access from the states of Colorado, Oregon and Washington. Oregon has legal access to psilocybin, Colorado has passed laws to come into effect in 2 years' time and Washington currently has a bill before state legislatures. What lessons can we learn and what advice can they give us?

The legal framework with Ayahuasca has changed immensely in the past two years around the world. In Europe, Italy and France have scheduled Ayahuasca as a controlled substance.

Most recently, Jose Campos, an Indigenous medicine facilitator from Peru is facing trial for bringing Ayahuasca into Mexico for healing ceremonies and has been imprisoned since being detained on March 9, 2022. This occurred after the Mexican government assigned the Marines as the head of the Customs agency. Since Jose Campos's detainment, 7 other individuals have also been imprisoned for carrying Ayahuasca into Mexico, 3 of whom are also Indigenous. This important trial will set precedence for the rest of the individuals in custody, as well as the direction of legality of Ayahuasca in Mexico.

With these recent changes and charges, Natalia Rebollo, head attorney for Jose Campos' trial, as well as the coordinator of the Ayahuasca Defense Fund, a program of ICEERS (International Center for Ethnobotanical Education, Research, and Service), along with her colleague Jerónimo Mazarrasa, the Social Innovation Coordinator from ICEERS will be joining Salimeh Tabrizi, founding board member of the Psychedelic Association of Canada to discuss the most recent news on the legal cases of Ayahuasca as well as informing our community about the changes and steps forward.

His latest action is suing the government of Canada on behalf of Therapsil and its clients, to give end-of-life patients access to psilocybin without having to access this medicine through the many layered red tape of the Canadian government.

Also joining in this important conversation is Therapsil's Spencer Hawkswell and Human Rights Lawyer John Conroy (who also has many victories at the Supreme Court of Canada).  Together they will update us on the progress of the groundbreaking case to get access to psilocybin for all Canadians.

The internationalization of Ayahuasca and the current interest in entheogens and psychedelics for treatment and self-discovery bring challenges to professionals and participants alike. Join Jeffrey C Sorensen of breathARMY in discussing the valuable role breathwork can play alongside psychedelic therapies and the similarities between these two modalities in how they impact brain function.

Jeff will provide a brief history and description of techniques that can be useful and complementary in psychedelic therapy.

MEAI (5-Methoxy-2-aminoindane) is a psychoactive molecule, exerting a euphoric alcohol-like experience & a reduced desire to consume alcohol. It shows a high safety profile in preclinical studies and a promising efficacy.

MEAI is believed to break the vicious binge-drinking cycle at the decision point to drink more alcohol, by potentially innervating neural pathways such as 5-HT1A that lead to “sensible behaviour”.

In this informational and education session, Adjunct Professor Mark Haden, VP of Business Development for Clearmind will discuss the history of MEAI and its classification as a psychedelic, the clinical trial pathway required for the molecule MEAI to become a treatment, and some of the preclinical data.

Unprocessed trauma is the most significant yet often misunderstood roadblock to health and embodied wellness, underlying the vast majority of mental health, physical health, and addiction issues. In this webinar, we will cover the physiology of trauma—from how it shapes neural networks to its impact on our broader physiology, relationships, and society.

Music has the power to make us laugh, cry, dance, and ponder deep philosophical questions. It moves our soul, heart, and body as nothing else can, and sometimes, all at once. Music connects humanity across culture and time. Sounds can reach deep down into us and help move trauma around and engage our cells in a symphony of healing and insights across our emotional, logical, and spiritual bodies.

The latest scientific literature is promising when it comes to pairing psychedelic therapy with music to help us feel better. Data and research papers are increasingly digging deep into the science behind the breakthroughs possible. Indigenous cultures are way ahead in that department and have understood the healing powers of sound for a very long time as music is a core element of plant medicine ceremonies and other spiritual practices.
